New Year’s Resolutions vs Goal Setting

Published December 29th, 2020 by FWA Fitness

Do you make a New Year resolution? Why a new-year resolution? Why not a birthday resolution? I mean, that’s a New Year in your life.  What is this obsession that we have with thinking we’re going to change our whole life on the 1st of the year?  If you have a goal that you are truly passionate about and committed to, why would you wait one second longer to start working toward achieving it.

For that matter, why would you knowingly take steps away from it?  Why do we think Jan. 1st is this “magical” day?  You won’t all of a sudden become disciplined or gain some special skill you didn’t have yesterday to achieve your goal?

Clearly, I’m not a believer in New Year resolutions. I AM A BELIEVER IN GOAL SETTING. Making a commitment to better yourself & sticking it. Because Jan 1st isn’t a magical day. You will wake up the same person you were on Dec 31st. All of the temptations, the obstacles, & excuses will still be there.

If you’re willing to make a commitment & a change on the 1st, be willing to make it now. Set a goal, in fact set several goals. Big ones that will take some time to achieve and small ones that will help you achieve the big one. Start now. Expect there to be triumphs and setbacks. If you’re truly serious, if you’re playing to win you don’t wait.

This year my goal is to help break the cycle of resolutions & instead set goals.  Take the NO RESOLUTION FOR 2021 pledge with me.

Tell me your 2021 GOAL (via email or text) & when you’re starting to work to achieve these goals together.

(Pssst - you should already be working on it)
